Register now — Music PEI’s Canadian Song Conference 2025

Charlottetown, PEI — Taking place this May 28th to 30th, Music PEI’s Canadian Song Conference (CSC) was created to assist PEI songwriters, composers, and musicians to develop additional revenue streams beyond those associated with touring and live performance. To that end, Music PEI brings in 25-30 delegates — industry professionals from across Canada, the US, and beyond who work in television, film, advertising, radio, video games, and anywhere else recorded music may be used, to shop for music being made by Island artists and begin building working relationships with them.

One of the most exciting parts of the conference is the SOCAN Panel Series, which is free of charge and is open to anyone who’d like to attend! This educational series will include workshops and panel discussions delivered by the conference delegates, who include music supervisors, sync agents, music publishers, radio broadcasters, performance rights specialists, and more.

The first panel of the conference will be a keynote address and songwriting workshop from none other than multi award-winning and twice JUNO-nominated singer/songwriter Terra Lightfoot! Not only will Terra speak about her own brilliant songwriting and extensive career, selected participants will have the opportunity to showcase their own songs and receive feedback from Terra. Those wishing to submit their songs may do so via the conference registration form.

Day two of the conference features two panel discussions, the first being a deep dive on royalties: where they are generated and how they are collected. The second will be a discussion on releasing and disseminating your music in an increasingly competitive market.

The third and final day will feature a unique interactive workshop where a group of music supervisors will dissect some television and movie scenes they’ve worked on and show why the music chosen can make or break the effectiveness or impact of that scene. Later that same day a final panel will focus on introducing the key players in sync, breaking down how deals come together, and sharing the first steps artists can take to begin navigating the space.

All panels will take place at the Guild in Charlottetown on the afternoons of May 28, 29, and 30. Pre-registration is required, but is free of charge, and is open now for both members and non members of Music PEI. Registration and more information can be found here: [LINK] or at musicpei.com

Music PEI is grateful for the continued support of the Province of PEI, Innovation PEI, Skills PEI, the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, FACTOR (through support from the Canadian Government and Canada’s Private Radio Broadcasters) and Canadian Heritage through the Creative Export program.
