Top Chefs Compete for $10,000 at PEI International Shellfish Festival

CHARLOTTETOWN, PE — This September, award-winning chefs across Canada will meet in Prince Edward Island for a world-class culinary competition, the Garland Canada International Chef Challenge. Everyone is invited to join the live audience and cheer on the chefs as they compete in the kitchen stadium, where they have just 45 minutes to craft a PEI Shellfish dish right before their eyes. The Garland Canada International Chef Challenge takes place September 20 to 22, 2024 and early bird tickets start at $10.00.
With a $10,000 cash prize on the line, this high-stakes competition promises no room for error and demands the utmost in creativity, presentation, and taste. As the tension rises and the countdown begins, spectators will be treated to a front-row seat to culinary excellence, witnessing the creation of extraordinary dishes and the crowning of the next Garland Canada International Chef Challenge champion.
The 12 competing chefs are:
- Ottawa: Michael Hauschild, InHaus Catering
- Calgary: Nils Schneider, Canvas Dining
- Toronto: Erica Karbelnik, Karbs Catering & Private Events
- Saskatoon: Benet Hunt, Food and Beverage
- Ottawa: Mariel Legere- van Herpen, Atelier
- Edmonton: Abigail López Velasco, PYRO Wood-Fired Kitchen and Bar
- Halifax: Guy Pratt, Studio East Asian Gastropub
- Toronto: Kalyan Chakraborty, Richmond Station
- Kentville: Stephane Levac, Maritime Express Cider
- Collingwood: Prateek Bisht, Poppys French Bistro
- Toronto: Thomas Salvo, Burdock Brewery
- French River: Kelly Sheridan, North Shore Canteen
These chefs will be judged by an esteemed panel, featuring Celebrity Chef Corbin from Corbin’s Catering and Foods in Toronto, Ontario; Robyn Almodovar, Executive Chef of Timbr Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and Mark Singson, a private chef from Vancouver, British Columbia.
