The TIAPEI Safe Haven Certification was a program developed to support tourism operators in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for visitors. While the certification program is no longer being offered, TIAPEI continues to encourage operators to uphold these high standards by promoting best practices and providing resources to enhance guest confidence. Maintaining exceptional hygiene remains a priority for the tourism industry, reinforcing Prince Edward Island’s reputation as a safe and high-quality destination.

Research now shows that health and safety are top of mind for consumers when choosing travel destinations. The pandemic left some consumers feeling less secure, even in previously considered ‘safe’ locations for travel and tourism. Prince Edward Island’s tourism industry has recognized that concern and responded by implementing standardized health and safety training program not provided by competing tourism jurisdictions – the certified training program is called Safe Haven.
