Tourism Job Fairs 2024

In 2024, TIAPEI held three successful Tourism Job Fairs to strengthen the workforce within Prince Edward Island’s tourism industry. These events took place on March 16th at the Delta Prince Edward in Charlottetown, on April 6th at Green Gables Visitor Centre in Cavendish, and on April 20th, TIAPEI launched the innovative Rural Hiring Day initiative, encouraging rural businesses to host mini job fairs at their locations. These fairs provided a vital opportunity for employers to network with job seekers, recruit talent, and conduct on-the-spot interviews, helping to address the seasonal labor needs of PEI’s tourism sector.

The Charlottetown Job Fair attracted over 1,500 job seekers, with exhibitors noting an unprecedented level of engagement. Employers collected an average of 125 resumes per business, with some exceeding 300. Many positions were filled during the event, highlighting its effectiveness as a recruitment tool. The North Shore Job Fair in Cavendish, while smaller, connected 16 exhibitors with 110 motivated job seekers, contributing to workforce development in a key tourism region.

These job fairs continue to play a crucial role in supporting PEI’s tourism industry by bridging the gap between businesses and a diverse pool of talent, including newcomers to Canada and seasoned workers. By facilitating personal connections and showcasing the potential of careers in tourism, these events bolster employment and drive growth in one of PEI’s most important economic sectors.
